Detours 03:43
You know where everyone around here is headed They're aiming for a place where income's no longer needed And it's the same way around Yeah it's the same way around The perfect house under the perfect sky in California But son, you've got to slave for your pay don't tell me I didn't warn ya And it's the same way around Yeah it's the same way around Take a detour, don't go straight ahead Might be something just around the bend

Visions 02:24
I don't know why I keep seeing visions of you here I don't know why I keep seeing visions of you here If only they'd go then I'd be Happy here Twenty years from the war, and the pictures still appear Noises still make me flinch, looking for the smoke and fear If only they'd go then I'd be Happy here I wait in the rain for the sun to reappear In the thunder deep, I hear heaven's horses near With that thought beside me, I am Happy here
3.
I stand there, the walking dead, nothing going round my head You look at me as if to say - speak your mind, don't let it get away But I have nothing to say Pen hits the paper Three hours later I've written Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Writer's block has boxed me in again I need to get out Standing there in the rain - in a flash, everthing's changed Street lights bounce of sparkling ground, the whole world devoid of sound Writer's block has boxed me in again But I see a flood on the horizon
4.
I want to see the world In full colour Freeze at the top of a mountain Just to see the sun glint off the snow Stuck at the water's edge End of the line Cold and exhausted Lose track of time Next step it feels like You're on holy ground As gold streams over the horizon I want to see the world In full colour Freeze at the top of a mountain Just to see the sun glint off the snow
5.
I'll wait 01:36
In the place where nobody goes I'l wait for you In the rain or in the snow I'll wait for you I'll stay frozen to the spot When the atmosphere gets hot Happy with my lot Icicles melt into motion To flow into the ocean While I betray no emotion In the place where nobody goes I'll wait for you Till the time when I really know I'll wait for you
6.
Once an old man walked to the window And sat down where the sun was streaming in Nobody knew where he came from No-one could tell where he'd been And he said to the crack in the wall Words that could have stopped world wars While the clock ticked patiently on And the dust swirled slowly around him Don't let the sun go down on your anger When he stops speaking the house grows silent No more voices decorate the room Long had it been full of laughter Or the timbers alive with a tune But bitterness invaded somewhere Splintering families now long lost Now he knows, and distressed is his stare Nothing was worth that cost Don't let the sun go down on your anger

If only all of us could find the light to our paths All those people that think they're at a dead end The world has nothing more to offer them Hard wired and tense, backed into a corner Not expecting help they know they're on their own If only all of us could find the light to our paths

God eternal 02:50
Now I see He's so much bigger than me And I can't pretend otherwise From where he stands Time is a line in the sand And I'm just a grain in his hands But this picture just seems like a thought experiment And the feeling of amazement, well I don't know where it went All I'm doing now is tracing circles in my head Eternity's too big to comprehend Now I see He's so much bigger than me

Can't see 01:28
I can't see too clearly But one day I know I'll be able to

about

Writing lyrics to songs produced a new challenge to me, because I was determined to write lyrics that had a defined meaning, that were poetic, and that expressed something of that which I wanted to say. All but one of these songs have lyrics, desert hallucinations providing some nice meaningless relief :) I hope that the music covers over any lyrical clumsiness, but most of all, as always, that you enjoy my efforts here!
